Yes.  The USDA* has defined ground beef as having a maximum total fat content of 30%, and ground beef cannot contain added fat.  Hamburger,  on the other hand, can have additional beef fat added into the grind, which is a way to use up beef fat trimmed off other cuts. By those same USDA standards, beef fat cannot be added to products labeled ground beef.* Meadowland Farms™ ground beef is 100 percent ground beef, not hamburger.

While it is permissible to add seasonings, neither ground beef nor hamburger can have added water, phosphates, extenders or binders such as bread crumbs. *Meadowland Farms ground beef comes in a wide variety of lean points, from 97% lean to 70% lean, and has no added water, phosphates, extenders or binders.

Ground beef is versatile beef.

What’s more American than ground beef? Did you know that ground beef accounts for 45% of total retail beef sales?* Ground beef is also unique because, unlike a steak or roast, it can differ in lean and fat content – allowing you more control over what your family eats. Nearly 95 percent of grocery stores across the country sell ground beef that is 90 percent lean or leaner, so it’s easier than ever to “go lean with protein” as recommended in the USDA’s MyPyramid.** http://www.mypyramid.gov
